Chessie System Railroads is half of the original CSX Transportation and is represented still today by the “C” in every CSX logo. In 1972, Chessie System was formed from the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway, which controlled the nation’s first and oldest railroad, the Baltimore & Ohio. Thereafter, the Western Maryland was also held. Enjoy our content and please help us sustain our online presence if possible. You can learn more About Our Society and the History of Chessie System Railroads by visiting our Virtual Museum.

In 2022, we will be celebrating 50 years of Chessie System and 25 years since our Society was founded.
